FOUNDER and CEO
|
Vickie Powell founded Bizquests in 1982 to serve as a conduit for bringing to market, her unique set of skills and business knowledge. She has successfully completed assignments in business (from small, owner-run companies to corporations), government, nonprofit and grass roots causes. Her activities ranged from creating successful, new companies/organizations to identifying and correcting specific problems with client businesses/organizations. Her diverse background in business administration and finance bring invaluable talent for strategic planning and executive management, sales, and business development. Some examples of her successes:
- Ms. Powell brought all parties together in a multi-million dollar project to reduce the energy cost for a hospital in northern California. During the execution of the project she managed all the suppliers. The project involved the use of photovoltaic cells to produce electricity from sunlight and cogeneration equipment to produce electricity from lower cost natural gas. She completed the project successfully, on time, on budget. The hospital’s new power system paid for itself quickly and today accounts for significantly lower energy costs. It is the largest hospital owned power system of its kind in the U.S.
- BlogMeEverywhere.com Ms. Powell brings a wealth of online social networking experience specializing over the last three years in blogging. She became a conduit, successfully using her unique business skills to bring her clients objectives to fruition through guerilla marketing and creative blogging. Her experience has created successful new companies and organizations using the Internet to identify opportunities and build markets. Finding new clients, making new contacts, soliciting funding and even just simple announcements--none of this has ever been easy for small business owners. Blogging on social networking sites is making it possible for small businesses to compete on equal footing with big corporations. Which Internet outlet is the right one for your message? There are so many to choose from, but you dont have the time, money or staff to cover all the bases while running your business. If you dont keep tabs on whats going on; if you dont keep the growing ranks of net-savvy potential customers informed of your product or business some other business will.
-
Ms. Powell wrote successful legislation to fund pilot projects in the California Youth Authority which was subsequently duplicated in three other states. The legislation called for establishment of Ms Powell’s TagAway™ program that enables ex-gang members and youth to give up a life of crime and return to a productive life in society. The program includes laser removal of the inappropriate tattoos that make legitimate employment impossible.
-
Ms. Powell spearheaded the fight for over 17 years to stop the inappropriate development of a prime oceanfront property. She formed the Friends of Porter-Sesnon, wrote the winning ballot measure to stop the development (winning by a 2/3rd majority) and co-authored with Senator Henry Mello, the legislation that acquired the property for a state park. For her work on this issue the California Sierra Club presented her with their Environmentalist of Year Award. Also in recognition of her efforts, the California State Parks Department system placed a bronze plaque at the park entrance, dedicating the park to Ms. Powell and Senator Mello.
- Ms. Powell is the recipient of the Beyond Wars Award from the United Nations for her business development works in Nicaragua and Columbia.
