| Often organizations work solely in their sector,
that is in business, government or civil society.. Businesses support
other businesses or direct customers, governments works with other
governments, and nonprofits work with other nonprofits or the public
to accomplish their missions. Often, there are significant opportunities
for an organization to accomplish their mission more effectively and
efficiently. Bizquests, Inc identifies linkages and opportunities
between organizations of these different sectors by creating projects
that deliver mutual benefits. People can realize new and large economic
opportunities to advance their organizations by partnering creatively
with organizations in other sectors. See Social
Enterprise.
Case Study
Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, a nonprofit regional hospital
is a very large consumer of electric power, PG&E is their electric
power supplier, the State of California mandated legislation subsidies,
and taxes credits, and the Federal Government issued tax credits.
Bizquests created a project to link these organizations of different
sectors. A 150 Kilowatt solar carport was designed and installed
on the roof of the employee parking garage (the first of its kind
installed on a hospital), a 1 Megawatt cogeneration plant will be
installed soon to reduce additional consumption resulting in pollution
reduction, conservation of resources, and the generation of cleaner,
renewable energy. The hospital reduced their dependence on the utility
grid, other systems generated hot water supporting on-site laundry,
and providing back up energy for power failures. This enabled the
hospital to achieve a competitive return on their investment, providing
a better environment for their neighbors, and being responsible
for future generation. Everyone won! See more detail at Energy
Solutions.
